A life well lived is one that people always celebrate even after the passing of the person. Prince Rogers Nelson , is one artist who is celebrated in this month of June as his album “Purple Rain” is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Prince Rogers Nelson , an American singer , songwriter , multi – instrumentalist , record producer and actor. Best known as Prince is celebrated by the music industry and the world in this month of June for his greatest album ” Purple Rain”.
Prince died in the year 2016 , from an overdose of fentanyl. But his legacy still lives on through his music. His album “Purple Rain” was released on the 25 day of June in the year 1984. Purple Rain after its release took home a Grammy for the best rock vocal performance and also earned many Grammy nominations.
The album “Purple Rain” sold over 25 million copies globally and was also certified for 13 times by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). A musical film was made to honor the artist and his music.
The movie also earned an Oscar for best original music , demonstrating how wonderful the music was and the level of impact Prince had. The album includes musical classics like “When Doves Cry” ,”Let’s Go Crazy” , ” I Will Die For You” and many more.
As the album celebrates it 40th anniversary in this month of June , Sonic Edition in partnership with photograph and picture archives have released rare iconic photos of the music icon in honor of him.
Also a musical tribute will be held at his Paisley Park Home from 20 June to 24 June in his honor.
