The Asantehene expresses confidence in Bawumia during his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region

The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has expressed his confidence in the prowess of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to honour his promises if he is to be voted as president in this year’s elections.

The Asantehene asked Dr Bawumia to continue campaigning his goodwill messages for Ghanaians ahead of the elections.

The Asantehene made known to the gathering that he has known Dr Bawumia for a very long time and has come to the notice that political power has not transformed the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana as a humble person.

With his royal linguist serving as an interpreter when Dr Bawumia paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, June 12, the Asantehene said “I have known you, political power has not changed you, you are still humble, keep being humble. Continue to treat Ghanaians with respect and humility and explain to them what you want to do for them. I know you can do the job if Ghanaians vote for you.”

He added “President Akufo-Addo saw in you great potential and that was why he chose you as his Vice President to help him, the government has done a lot and I know you to deliver, just propagate your messages to ghanains.”

Dr Bawumia began his campaign tour of the Ashanti region on Monday, June 9.

As part of the places he toured, he met traders at the Suame Magazine on Tuesday June 11.

“It was an electrifying experience on Tuesday as traders, artisans, the youth and the residents of the Ashanti Region massively reaffirmed their belief in me and the NPP’s vision for Ghana’s future.

Ashanti Region has always been a pillar of strength and diverse opinions, and this was on full display as I interacted with artisans at Suame, traders at the Central market, engaged the citizenry at Asafo and strongly connected to the youth at the Jubilee Park.

Indeed, it is possible!” he wrote in a post on his facebook page.
