News about the alleged mandatory leave for the IGP refuted in a statement endorsed by the Director of Public Affairs

The Ghana Police Service has rebutted reports alleging that Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has been mandated to take a leave of absence and delegate his duties to his deputy, Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

In an official statement released on June 30th and endorsed by ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, the Service declared the report as erroneous, and therefore advised the public to disregard it.

“We would like to urge the public to disregard this fake news and treat same with the contempt it deserves.”

The Inspector-General of Police is resolute in carrying out his responsibility to oversee the Ghana Police Service, as entrusted to him by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
