Payments have been made to hospitals nationwide by The National Health Insurance Authority to settle debts

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has released an additional GH¢135.6 million to healthcare providers across the nation. This allocation is intended to settle outstanding claims for the month of February 2024 for higher-tier healthcare providers and for March 2024 for the majority of lower-tier facilities.

The payment is aimed at narrowing the payment disparity between higher and lower-tier healthcare facilities, ensuring that the Authority only has outstanding payments within the agreed-upon three-month reimbursable period.

This recent allocation follows a prior disbursement of GH¢300 million to diverse healthcare facilities nationwide. As stated by NHIA CEO Dr. Dacosta Aboagye, the Authority acknowledges the crucial role healthcare providers play in the success of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and is dedicated to upholding a robust partnership with facilities while deterring illicit charges.
