A KNUST student goes viral for designing app for errand running services.

A final-year student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kessben Antwi, has developed a mobile application to offer errand services. The application, named SomaMe (derived from the Twi phrase ‘send me on an errand’), enables errand runners to commercialize their services through a digital platform.

A post discovered on @VOICE_of_KNUST’s X page elaborated on the payment system integrated within the mobile application. In addition, this innovative app streamlines the process for busy individuals by allowing them to delegate errands to designated individuals for a nominal fee transacted via the mobile money platform.

“Payments are made every morning to the Errander’s provided mobile money or bank account. The Company deducts a 16.7% service fee from successful Bids, and the remaining 83.3% is paid to the Errander. Payments are facilitated through Pay stack,” portions of the post read.

Kessben Antwi, a student of Telecommunications Engineering at KNUST, is utilizing the SomaMe Application to foster job opportunities for fellow students on campus. The application is presently accessible on both the Google Play Store and App Store for users to download. Several of Kessben Antwi’s classmates extended their congratulations for his triumphant creation and launch of the application.
