English singer and songwriter, Adele, will embark on an extended hiatus from the music scene following the conclusion of her Weekends with Adele residency in Las Vegas on November 23. This upcoming show represents a final opportunity for her devoted fans to experience the singer’s enduring and stationary performance before she withdraws from the spotlight for a considerable period.
During an interview with Germany’s ZDF, as reported by Billboard.com, the 36-year-old Adele shared startling news, expressing,“I don’t have any plans for new music at all.” Furthermore, the renowned artist, who openly admits her discomfort with fame, elaborated, “I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
Adele commenced her Weekend residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in November 2022, intending to conclude the show with her final scheduled performance on November 23rd. Prior to her temporary departure from the music scene, she is set to deliver a series of concerts in Munich at a specially constructed venue with a capacity of 80,000 on August 2, 3, 9, 10, 14, 16, 23, 24, 30, and 31. Reflecting on the culmination of 100 live performances over the past two years, Adele expressed that she now perceives her creative energy to be significantly depleted.
After announcing the initial run of Munich shows, Adele wrote on Instagram, “So a few months ago I got a call about a summer run of shows. I’ve been content as anything with my shows in London’s Hyde Park and my residency in Vegas, so I hadn’t had any other plans. However, I was too curious to not follow up and indulge in this idea – a one off, bespoke pop-up stadium designed around whatever show I want to put on.”
The vocalist — who has refrained from embarking on a global tour since her 2016-2017 journey in support of her 25 album — has established a routine of indulging in personal time in-between the release of new albums and subsequent tours.
Back in December, the mother of 11-year-old son Angelo informed Hollywood Reporter,”I have nothing to say yet. I haven’t even thought about it… I have to wait for a feeling. If I get antsy, that’s when I know I have to go to the studio, and I am the opposite of antsy right now.”
Hitting on new ventures in that same interview, Adele said that there was one unnamed film role she aspires to undertake but, “the guy whose movie it would be, he’s not mentally ready to write the script for it… I bug him every now and then about it, but he’s just not there yet. But that’s the only role I ever want. Because I think I’d nail it. I think I’d do really, really, really good at it.”
Then, in January during one of her Weekends shows, Adele told the audience “I just don’t think I’m gonna write an album for quite some time,” teasing that when she does she may be ready to hit the road properly again.
