Candidates sitting for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the North Tongu District have been advised against wearing shoes or belts during their exams. This instruction, issued by officials from the Ghana Education Service (GES), is intended to deter any form of examination malpractice. However, candidates are permitted to wear sandals as an alternative.

At St. Kizito Senior High School, which serves as one of the approved examination centers in the district, GES authorities stressed the critical importance of strict compliance with this directive.

They explained that the restriction on shoes and belts serves as a precautionary measure aimed at upholding the integrity of the examination process by reducing opportunities for dishonesty.

Nevertheless, the directive has faced opposition from certain students. A few individuals have conveyed feelings of unease and discontent, pointing out that they are unfamiliar with wearing sandals and going beltless.

They contend that these modifications have had an adverse impact on their ease and focus during the examinations. In spite of these reservations, the GES authorities are resolute in implementing the directive, emphasizing its significance in upholding a fair and cheating-free examination environment.
