Ghana’s 100m runners disappoint as they failed to get into the final stage.

Benjamin Azamati and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu failed to progress to the 100m final at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Despite a strong performance in the initial rounds, Azamati encountered difficulties in the semifinals, ultimately finishing in ninth place with a time of 10.17 seconds. Saminu, a newcomer to the Olympic stage, secured the seventh position in his respective semifinal with a time of 10.05 seconds.

Azamati will now shift his focus towards aiding the Ghanaian 4x100m men’s relay team, while Saminu’s chance of getting a medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics has drawn to a close, marking the end of his participation in the individual events.

Ghana’s attention is now directed towards the 4x100m relay event, where Azamati aspires to enhance Ghana’s prospects for a medal. The most recent Ghanaian athlete to reach the Olympic 100m final was Aziz Zakari back in 2004.
