As she bids farewell to daytime TV, Kelly Clarkson is also confronting the personal sacrifices that came with her meteoric rise through television and music. The Emmy-winning host recently announced she’s stepping away from The Kelly Clarkson Show after seven seasons, a decision driven by her desire to spend more time with her children and reclaim balance in her life.
In an emotional social media post, Clarkson told fans, “This was not an easy decision. Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”
Though the “Behind These Hazel Eyes” singer hasn’t closed the door on love, those closest to her say it hasn’t been easy to make space for a relationship and plenty of that has to do with her relentless schedule. The talk show, which unexpectedly became a huge success, “became more than she initially bargained for,” sources told Us Weekly. They described the production as virtually her entire life, leaving little room for her personal world.
Clarkson is also navigating life after the loss of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, who died last year following a battle with cancer. His passing, she has shared, has deeply affected their two children, River and Remington, and shaped her focus on family.
“Kelly’s been through so much in her life, and she just pushes on,” a source explained, adding that her selflessness means she often puts others before her own desires including romantic ones.
Though she’s not ruling out love entirely friends say she wants someone who understands her world for now, her career, her kids, and her creative projects come first.
