In a recent development, Portable jumped gate to evade police arrest which has brought about a lot of controversies.
Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, made a daring escape by jumping a gate to evade arrest by officers of the Lagos State Police Command.
On Tuesday, the singer was taken into custody over a complaint filed by a car dealer claiming unpaid debt. Portable had purchased a G-Wagon worth N27 million but had only made an initial payment.
A video capturing the arrest went viral on social media, showing Portable calmly chatting with the officers. However, when presented with a warrant, he assured them of cooperation, only to suddenly leap over a nearby gate and flee.
In a subsequent video, Portable was seen being apprehended by four police operatives and forced into a vehicle. The State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the arrest, stating that Portable had purchased the G-Wagon, paid half the amount, and refused to pay the balance, claiming the vehicle was defective.
This is not the first time Portable has had a run-in with the law. In 2023, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting an ex-signee. The singer, known for his controversial behavior, rose to fame in 2021 with his hit single “Zazuu” featuring Olamide.
