Australia-born star Margot Robbie revealed a surprising throwback crush that she says she would have “risked it all” for as a teenager, connecting fantasy film passion to her latest role in Wuthering Heights.
During a recent interview with E! News, the 35-year-old actress, currently starring as Cathy in the Wuthering Heights adaptation was asked whether there was a celebrity she would’ve been willing to go all-in for at 16. Robbie didn’t hesitate: “I would’ve risked it all for Aragon from Lord of the Rings,” she laughed, referring to Viggo Mortensen’s rugged warrior.
The Barbie and Bombshell star even saw echoes of that fantasy crush in her Wuthering Heights co-star’s character, Heathcliff. Robbie joked, “He’s kind of giving Heathcliff in the first half of the movie with the long hair and the beard. I have a type I guess.”
Robbie also opened up about the realities of filming intimate scenes for the moody romance, admitting that love scenes are often heavily choreographed and technical. Paradoxically, she said, it’s the emotionally charged argument sequences that sometimes feel more spontaneous and “in the moment.”
Reflecting on the film as a whole, Robbie praised the creative team behind the project. Speaking to Extra, she said the pairing with co-star Jacob Elordi and director Emerald Fennell gave the cast a strong foundation. “We were so set up for success, to be honest… we were just given all the ingredients to do something amazing,” she said.
Wuthering Heights which reinterprets Emily Brontë’s classic hits theaters this month, and Robbie’s candid interview adds playful insight into her life both on and off the Yorkshire moors.
