Gospel artist, Yaw Sarpong, has issued a response to the recent accusations made by his former spouse, Adwoa Pinamang. He unequivocally stated that their marital union came to an end two decades ago, when Pinamang abandoned him and their children. In a state of distress during a radio interview, Pinamang alleged that the musician’s family had hindered her from providing care for her ailing spouse. Furthermore, she accused Tiwaa, a female singer, of luring Yaw Sarpong away with the assistance of his relatives.
Despite a separation spanning close to 20 years, Pinamang remains steadfast in her belief that she and Yaw Sarpong are still lawfully wedded, and as such, she asserts her right to be acknowledged as his legitimate partner. In response, Yaw Sarpong clarified that their union was never legally formalized, thereby rendering a legal divorce unnecessary. He elaborated on the traditional rites that took place, involving the presentation of a Bible, soft drinks, and a ring.
The seasoned musician recounted the circumstances surrounding Adwoa Pinamang’s desertion of him and their children, relocating to Kumasi while he was gravely ill. Yaw Sarpong also noted that he had no form of communication with Pinamang throughout the past two decades, which renders her recent assertions and attempts at reconnection rather surprising. He is of the opinion that her sudden renewed interest may have been influenced by the recent gift of GH¢100,000 he received from Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
Yaw Sarpong stressed that he has moved forward with his life but remains open to amicably resolving any outstanding matters with his former wife.
